Free Soil Party
The free soil party was was organized in 1847 by northern men against slavery whom distrusted General Lewis Cass and General Zachary Taylor. The party members were against the western expansion of slavery. The Wiltmot Proviso was a major component for the start of the Free Soil Party.
Liberty Party
The Liberty Party was organized in April of 1840 in Warsaw, NY. It was the first ever antislavery party in the United States. They weren't expecting the abolition of slavery in the south to come strictly out of politics, but they were hoping to draw attention to antislavery beliefs, stop the expansion of slavery, and end slave trade and institution of slaves in the capital.
Republican Party
The Republican Party was organized in 1854 by mostly northern states. They saw slavery as an evil and were against slavery.

Election of 1860 and Secession
Abraham Lincoln was elected president on November 6, 1860. He won over Stephen A. Douglas, John C. Breckinridge, and John Bell with an electoral score of 180 and a popular vote of 1,865,593. This was the final straw. The south was fed up with the attempts at abolishing slavery, and secession began.
